FRTCs Extensive Learner Support Services during Migration to an eLearning System

1 May 2020

FRTC has migrated to an eLearning System. The Felix Risk Training Consultants eLearning System is an online web-based platform that learners can use to access course material, view facilitation videos, upload completed assignments, interact with one another on the chat forum, interact with the online facilitator should they require clarity or support, and view their learner results. The focus of the system is to improve communication and data transmission between learners and Felix Risk Training Consultants in real time.
FRTCS LEARNER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The Learner Management System has been developed to digitise the paper-based processes of FRTC. This is a centralised system whereby learner records can be easily stored and accessed.
The development of an eLearning system aims to improve the accessibility of learner information, whilst simultaneously providing learners with a convenient way to access their course material, submit assignments and engage with the online facilitator and with each other.
The benefit of the LMS is that the system will track the learners time spent in the system, from sign in to sign out. In the case of studying via the distance mode, this proves to be an effective way in which learner attendance can be tracked and monitored and serves to assist both the learner, training provider and learner’s employer (Human Resources Department).
Felix Risk Training Consultants (FRTC) believes that learners who are supported in their study efforts are better prepared for learning.
FRTCS INVALUABLE LEARNER SUPPORT Learners are supported in the following ways, academically by Felix Risk Training Consultants: • Admin Support: FRTC has dedicated online learner support administrators that are available to take care of any queries that learners might have. • Communication: Learners are constantly kept in contact via bulk SMS, email and telephonic calls. Learners are supported through email correspondence, telephone calls and forums discussions.

• Online Facilitation: is an opportunity to create a supportive online community for students by encouraging both facilitator-to-student engagement and student-to-student interaction. Online facilitation helps to create an eLearning experience that is informative, engaging, and motivational for the learner. • At Risk Support: The abilities of the individual learners are identified, and differentiated learning and teaching is provided, where necessary. • Learner Centredness: The learner centred approach is embraced to ensure that the learner takes ownership of his/her studies and performs successfully. • Learner Results: Individual results are monitored per assessment, to reinforce excellent performance and improve performance of learners that require the extra support. • FRTC Training Provider Support: Learners are encouraged to contact FRTC for any training, assignment & submission related queries. • Remediation support: Learners are encouraged to contact FRTC facilitators for assistance in remediation. FRTC allows learners three attempts to submit assessments and gain Competence per assessment. • Reporting: FRTC reports to each client monthly post training sessions. Reports cover various aspects such as learner attendance, learner assessment submissions and non-submissions, learners that require remedial support, training evaluation ratings of facilitators by learners about the training session and other general feedback from learners and from facilitators, where applicable.
